The amplification of the small town cemetery of S. Stefano al mare (IM) has been planned between 2003 and 2005 and realized in 2006 by the architects Aldo Amoretti, Marco Calvi and Giancarlo Ranalli.

A sequence of prismatic blocks contemporarily constitutes the burials and the wall of enclosure.

The openings between a block and the other allow a constant visual contact with the sea and with the cycling path that races along the border of the cemetery.

From left to the right the new and the old burials.

Sea cemetery

If someone indeed looked for

the lost breath

of those who rest in the white prisms

of the sea cemetery

If someone laid their ear

close to the sepulchres

and listened to the laughing

and the weeping

of Anthony Pietro Maria.

And if to the sound of the pedal

on the cycling path

 joined the low voice

of those who have come

to the end of the road

the lifeless undone looks

could still reach

the sea water

and to the horizon the sails

in the light of the sun.
